Texas Groundsel and Bluebonnet Colonies with Live Oaks

Location:
Muleshoe Bend Recreation Area in Spicewood

Description:
Muleshoe Bend on the Colorado River is famous for its vast displays of bluebonnets (Lupinus texensis). In this section of the park, the bluebonnet colony got upstaged by a larger colony of bright yellow Texas groundsel (Senecio ampullaceus), with a line of live oak trees (Quercus fusiformis) across the horizon.
