Lindy Segall

“Lucky Lindy” Segall grew up on the banks of the Colorado River west of Austin, Texas. Hunting, fishing, football and ranching were his favorite outdoor pursuits; reading great books, creative writing, theater and film claimed his indoor time. LL is a proud graduate of TCU and bleeds purple to this day. He later completed graduate studies at the Universidad Anahuac in Mexico City, courtesy of a Rotary International Fellowship.

Once dubbed an “excitement junkie,” he was directly involved in founding six successful small business enterprises over the past four decades. Along the trail, he discovered a pleasant balance between making a living–and making a difference. Marquee clients included GSD&M Advertising, Dell Computer, Freescale Electronics and HDR Engineering. He was blessed with a love for teaching — from substituting at area high schools to executive-level classes at TCU, UT-Austin, TAMU and St. Edward’s University. He’s an award-winning speaker, delivering his trademark “Prepare to be Quoted” keynote and clinics across the U.S.

The Austin Chamber of Commerce named him “Professional of the Year,” the Advertising Society “Best Speaker” and the Association for Women in Communication their “Mentor of the Year.” While grateful– and humbled–by these accolades from his peers, LL considers his greatest reward when a student simply says, “AHA!”

In 2007, he celebrated three decades of professional practice (and still maintains “it’s ALL practice”) by moving to the Texas Hill Country along with two quarter horses, two border collies, a donkey named Pancho and Lefty the barn cat where he managed a small cattle operation and retreat center. In 2014, he downsized to Fredericksburg where he enjoys mentoring area youth, newspaper reporting, independent film, community theater and live music. He’s an active member of the Hill Country Alliance sharing the best practices of land and water stewardship. And the Experimental Aircraft Association whose mission is providing education and opportunity to anyone interested in aviation. Ask him about plans for a Broadway musical inspired by his late mother’s military service in World War II!
