I am a science communicator and ecologist with a strong focus on public health, climate change, and disease ecology. I have contributed to global scientific reports (including the IPCC), collaborated with international research teams, and translated complex data into accessible, impactful communications for diverse audiences, from policymakers to the general public. Currently, I’m working with the Invasive Species Laboratory at Brackenridge Field Lab to understand the impacts of biocontrol on Red Imported Fire Ants.
I have always loved science communication! I have extensive experience in program development, grant writing, and strategic planning. Shortly after finishing my Ph.D., I co-founded a nonprofit, Austin Texas Science Communicators, dedicated to advancing ethical science communication. ATXSciComm hosts a monthly book club, happy hours and development workshops.
I thrive in interdisciplinary settings, leading research teams and collaborating across sectors to ensure that science is not only accurate but also accessible and actionable. Whether I’m leading field surveys, managing research projects, or mentoring the next generation of scientists, I’m driven by a mission to create positive change through effective communication and education.
